Greater Glasgow and Clyde
Child & Adolescent Diabetes Service
At the GGC Child & Adolescent Diabetes Service, we care for young people with diabetes from the Glasgow and Clyde regions, as well as those from further afield in the Oban area and the Western Isles. Scotland as a whole has one of the highest rates for children developing diabetes and around 100 young people are diagnosed in the GGC area every year. As a result, we are one of the largest children's diabetes services in the United Kingdom.
This website, our mobile App, and our written teaching materials are designed to help children, young people, families, and those supporting them in schools and hospitals in the management of this difficult condition.
MORE PAGES ARE ADDED TO THIS WEBSITE REGULARLY. PLEASE KEEP CHECKING IN FOR UPDATES.
1st August 2024 - We are very excited to tell you that we will be launching a new diabetes app called Digibete. This will replace the HealthZone UK app that we currently use over the next few weeks. It's free and has lots of features that HealthZone UK doesn't have! Click on the button here to find out more.
26th September 2024 - The ELSA study is screening children to find out if they are at risk of developing Type 1 diabetes in the future. Children aged 3 to 13 can have their blood checked for antibodies that are often found in people with Type 1 diabetes. If you are interested in learning more about this, please click on this link.
